Background

Designing an Engaging Event Campaign, Landing Page and Social Content strategy at Intel Corp. 

 

Intel's Tech Week 2020 presented a unique challenge: engaging 12,000 employees in a meaningful and immersive experience. Historically, the event had struggled with low visitor turnout and engagement, largely due to employees being overwhelmed with daily tasks and inundated with emails.

Project Overview

Recognizing that employees were overwhelmed with daily tasks and full inboxes, I devised a strategic design campaign to enhance visibility and drive participation. Working alongside HR, business and tech divisions,
C-suite, Intel’s PR team, and more, I created a sub-brand for this event. My team included a copywriter and an employee engagement specialist.
Our efforts focused on creating a unified and compelling experience that resonated with Intel employees and inspired them to engage fully with Tech Week 2020.

The Challenge

Employees were too overwhelmed with daily tasks to engage with event outreach, and previous marketing efforts failed to capture their attention or generate excitement.

The Concept

The campaign took a playful approach, using humor in both visuals and messaging around technology concepts to spark interest and engagement.

Design and Development

Branding and Concept Development:

  • Created a sub-brand for Tech Week that included a distinct logo, color scheme, and visual elements.

  • Developed a cohesive design language that reflected Intel’s innovation and technological prowess, yet remained approachable and engaging.

​Email Marketing and Communication:

  • Developed visually captivating email campaigns with concise messaging, highlighting event benefits.

  • Ensured emails were mobile-friendly and easily accessible.

Digital Signage Teasers:

  • Designed dynamic digital signage displaying event teasers around the Intel corporate campuses, generating curiosity and anticipation in the lead-up to Tech Week.

Website Development:

  • Created a dedicated website showcasing event venues, rooms, speakers, schedules, and social events.

  • Implemented new software tools on a global corporate scale, integrating WordPress through the company's global security system to create a user-friendly experience.

Social Media Content:

  • Curated engaging social media content to promote Tech Week across various platforms.

Rollups and Posters:

  • Designed vibrant rollups and posters to be displayed around Intel campuses, capturing employees’ attention.

Branded Event:

  • Designed the overall event layout and visual experience, ensuring consistency with the sub-brand.

  • Created branded presentation templates and materials for speakers and workshops.

Solution

To overcome these challenges, I implemented a multi-faceted design strategy focused on engaging visuals and targeted communication:

  • Playful Visuals and Messaging: Used humor in visuals and messaging to make the campaign more relatable and engaging.

  • Multi-Channel Outreach: Leveraged email, digital signage, social media, and physical posters to reach employees through various touchpoints.

  • Interactive Website: Developed an interactive and informative website to serve as the central hub for all Tech Week information.

Impact

Significant Increase in Participation:

My design approach led to a notable increase in participation, as the engaging visuals and playful messaging sparked curiosity and excitement among employees.

Enhanced Employee Engagement:

The immersive and well-coordinated campaign resulted in higher levels of employee engagement and interaction during Tech Week.

Positive Feedback:

Received positive feedback from employees and stakeholders, appreciating the fresh and engaging approach to event promotion.
